I DID MY FEATURE PROJECT FOR CAPSTONE

CAPSTONE FEATURE PROJECT

Short Video on how Boston Sports were so good in the 2000s

So, for this feature project, i decided to use my skills in editing and video production to make a quick, 1 minute long video about Boston sports, which is what i am familiar with. But, before that, i took a LinkedIn Learning course on scriptwriting (see below video for script) and so thats what new skill i learned during the time it took me to complete this. So, yeah, its been a while but feels good to get this off my shoulders, and now can finally do other things. Also below is a vertical version of the same video, which is edited slightly differently as i decided to focus on how to expand my video portfolio into vertical videos

Completed https://www.linkedin.com/learning/script-writing-for-nonfiction-video in case you were wondering in order to do this

OUTLINE –

Length – 4-5 mins horizontal, 1 minute vertical

About – Boston’s dominance in sports since 2000 and why they were at same time

What for – Class/portfolio, but also for social media since not really a package so will edit in vertical & horizontal

Key Points – graphic showing all teams, teams championships by year for 2000s, 2010s, 1990s, 1980s. Also, will hook by saying how were boston sports so successful?

TREATMENT –

For mostly people interested in history and sports, kinda similar to some videos that ive liked on tiktok or Instagram. But, is talking about overall the dominance of Boston in the major pro sports scene in the past two dozen years, so will appeal to that audience as well.  Will also be heavily focused on using graphics and animations to tell the story, as well as some images mixed with a voiceover which I want to do.

So, will start off with shots of Boston and then do a map zoom out to showcase a map of all four teams were talking about, then display championships above them with owners rising up out of them. Then, diving into Patriots on Map Zoom, have a graphic showing titles won, then talk about their history ownership and all that, then talk about Brady. Do similar for all other teams, like Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox. Then, at end, kinda talk about how that has kind of fallen apart recently, due to owners not caring as much or suspect competition might have fallen.

1 – intro

(:12)

“How has boston been so good at major pro sports since 2000, even though its not the biggest city in the country? The Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots have combined for 14 titles since 2000, which is the most for any city, including those with more than one team in each”

2 – map

(:15)

“With the patriots winning 6, the red sox winning 4, the celtics 3 and the bruins 1, the city has been buzzing the past quarter century

One key factor that many overlook is the ownership of each team, since they were all bought in the 90s after struggling for a while”

Logos going to each place on map, then title numbers pop up then ownership also pops up

3 – competition

(:20)

“I think these owners saw they needed to compete with one another for views and attention on the big stage, and decided to invest in the sports teams as a result”

Ownership graphic mixed with faces

4 – now

(:23)

“However, nowadays, things aren’t looking so great, as the owners are under as much pressure to compete, but some of them are looking promising, with young stars on all of them that are worth a watch in how they develop, such as …, which is how Boston can get a new golden age like”

(end on cliffhanger)

Fade to black and white and blur as faces of Maye, Tatum, and others with their ages rise up
